Anyone who has been to Disc here in Houston knows that my wife and I are Adult Fans of Lego (AFOL). We have had the pleasure of building Lego set-scapes that we try to change about every 45 days here at the office in the lobby. It truly started with my wife collecting little porcelain buildings that we started turning into Christmas scenes in our home. On a trip to the mall, we foolishly walked into a Lego store and came out with a few Christmas sets that have now become our Christmas theme. While many of the builds are set we always work to build landscapes and streets to tie the sets together.  While some are pretty complete, others change each time they are displayed.

It was not long after we started our Lego journey that we decided to build our logo out of Lego. Truly a labor of love. Gathering the bricks needed in specific colors was quite a challenge. Yellow bricks are more difficult to find than you could ever imagine. At the time we did not know about Lego Studio design software. Carrie put our logo in Excel, then made each cell 1x1 representing a Lego stud (you can see it on the laptop in one of the pictures). Then much like a 3D printer, we walked back and forth counting the studs. Our kitchen was a complete mess for months 😊 but we enjoyed the project immensely and are so very happy with what we have created.

If you are ever in the area stop by and take a look at what sets we have on display. My personal 2 favorites are our “Halloween Carnival” and “Ninjago City on the Water”. As we display the sets this year we are posting pictures and trying to describe the sets in more detail here on the blog.

Please let us know what you think!

Thanks!
